Trusting your Journey💖
Date: Sunday, 1st August, 2021.
Mood: Grateful, Elated.
Currently: In shock that a whole year is actually about to end! How time flies, it was just January the other day! 🙌
Life Update: A loot has happened!🤎 But first, my apologies for not being here so very often, it was my final year in school so I took time off to just get that done and dusted, then after school, there’s life… but oh well, here we are now!
Hello my lovelies!
What’s popping? Guess who’s back to the blog? That’s right, it’s meeee! Incase you’re new here, my name is Sarafina Nyawira, better known as Serah. Welcome to my space where I share lots of inspiration and a bit of other random things in my life, all helpful though.😊
So, grab yourself a cuppa hot coffee, relax and wait because…. it’s story tiiiiime! 🔔 🔔
So, here’s the thing…. I got myself a new phone! Anyone who knows me knows that Samsung is my it phone. Never ever felt the need for any other and infact, I can use one for a couple of years.😊 My love story with Samsung is just on another level but anywho…
Before this new Samsung of mine, I was using Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo. Best believe I bought it because of the name ‘Neo’ (I love Neyo the musician, lol) I have used this Samsung Model for 6 years! Sadly, I’m not the curious type to want to know what phone is trending, how it works, and so on and so forth. So long as I have a working phone, good storage and a good camera, that’s it for me.
I have this friend who, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. She’ll be the one to know what new phone is there in the market, what’s trending and so on and so forth. And while she definitely maybe won’t have them all, she’s definitely keen to purchase phones in the latest Android/ IOS Version. (Yeah, she’s bought quite a couple while I was still on my J7 Neo)
Moving on swiftly, the key difference to note between the phone which my friend had then and my J7 NEO, was the location of the speakers.
My J7 NEO has/had its speaker at the top of the screen, just next to the selfie 🤳 cam. (Watu wa Type B chargers😁)
Whereas my friend’s had its speaker at the lower point of the phone, just next to where the charging point is (Watu wa Type C👏)
So this one time, my friend finds me on a WhatsApp Voice Note conversation with another friend, looks at me and laughs. Then she asks me, “Nyawira, mbona una voice note juu ya simu?” I don’t say anything, but then she goes on to say, “Speaker inakuwanga hapo chini, sio juu.”
So guys take a moment and laugh because, I ACTUALLY BELIEVED IT! So anytime I’d voice note someone, I’d do so positioning my phone from the lower level. Yet I could see crystal clear, where my speaker was located. But I just brushed it off, thinking my friend was prolly right.
Till I bought my new phone, a Type C charger one (for lack of better words😁) and actually realised, the speaker was down there, and what my friend said back then made sense! And it made sense to her because that was her reality, but not mine! I was using a completely different phone and I knew it better, so why did I just go with what she told me? Thoughts, anyone?
Sadly, this is the reality we live in. Here’s what we do:
Take me and my phone for instance – In essence, this is like any human and a dream or goal they so badly want to achieve. Just as I’m the only one who knew how my phone was and where exactly the speaker was located, we as humans also know what our dreams are and what we need to get them achieved. Some of us spend years, if anything, strategically planning on how to achieve them and when exactly to achieve said goals.🤍
My friend – In this case, represents the voices we hear contrary to achieving our dreams and goals. Think about it, I go back to that scenario a million times and I ask myself, Why did I believe her in an instant? And after so long, I’ve realised, that it’s simply because she’s soo close to me, like family.🤍
LESSONS LEARNT.
Most times, we’ll share our dreams and ambitions with the people we love most. And while they may or may not necessarily agree with you, that should not necessarily be reason to believe that your dream can’t happen and give in to sometimes, negative opinions.
While our friends, family and loved ones always mean the best for us, we should always remember that we are here on earth for a purpose greater than man can understand. That which God gave you, your passion, talent, skill, big idea, is not for you to play small or joke around with!
Before you think about giving up or believing that they are probably right, here’s what you can do:
1. Seek like-minded people – Loved ones may fear for us because of their own personal experiences and not wanting us to go through similar hurts, and that’s okay. However, a close friend of mine has constantly told me, that what works is talking it over with people who’ve walked that journey before. Think of it like this: A person whose parents are entrepreneurs may not understand their need to join the corporate world. Makes sense?
2. Take time before revealing your processes and moves – You’d rather tell a few trusted people first, then go ahead to tell a larger community once your goal or dream picks up.
3. Above all, trust yourself, always and without doubt! – If your dream is to see the light of day, then you better invest heavily in self trust.
Trust your journey, trust that you are indeed, doing things right!
