Reviewing Mokah Studios
Hello guys and welcome to part two of my #PhotoShootSeries whereby I review photoshoot studios I’ve worked with before with an aim of shedding light to some of the questions I frequently get asked about where I do photoshoots and how much they charge. The first of this series was REVIEWING MODERNE STUDIOS, so if you haven’t read that and, are considering to work with them, or would like to learn from my experience, you can do that by catching up right here.
In today’s blog post, I’m reviewing MOKAH STUDIOS, which I worked with for my graduation shoot. It was a shoot for two, and I gave my friend Liz (whom we were doing the shoot together with) a list of studios I had in mind so she’d choose for us that which most appealed to her. Liz and I were both graduating, so we’d decided we’d do our grad shoot together when our big day finally came! 🎊
So, without further ado, let’s get right into our review for the day!
MOKAH STUDIOS
Name of Studio: Mokah Studios
Location: 5th Floor, Yala Towers, Biashara Street, CBD behind CJ’s Restaurant.

THE EXPERIENCE…
I called in to make my booking 10 days prior to the shoot. I loved their customer enquiries person, he/she was very helpful and quickly took me through how to make my booking, payments as well as rules to observe. Some of the rules you’ll want to adhere to if looking to work with this studio include:
📌 Clients should keep time.
📌 Clients doing makeup should arrive 1 hour prior so that the makeup can be done on time to avoid inconveniences.
📌 Incase a client wants to cancel or reschedule their shoot, they should give the notice 24hrs in advance, failure to which a deposit is non-refundable or non-transferrable.
Liz, my makeup artist and I got there early. We arrived there 2 hrs prior to our shoot, so Stacey (my makeup artist), had enough time to work on both our faces.
The photographer we worked with was okay. Generally, the experience was amazing. The studio is also very beautiful with very homely background set-ups. After the shoot, we were given ample time to also choose the photos we wanted, to our convenience.
PRICING…
So, with photoshoots, most photoshoot studios have a fixed package of a minimum number of photos that you can get at a fixed price. Any extras that the client may want, are given to them in raw/unedited form. Mokah studio charges 350bob per pic, minimum 10 pictures. Any extras are charged at 150 bob each.
WAIT TIME…
Photos are ready in maximum, 3 working days. This shoot was on a Saturday morning (3rd July), we got our photos on Wednesday afternoon (7th July). (Subtract Sunday as Sundays are not working days)
PHOTOS DELIVERED…
My goodness, the photos delivered were of very good quality. I love them, I absolutely absolutely loved the photographer’s work. He has a keen interest on taking photos that tell stories, and I think that’s a quality that every photographer should be able to bring out in photos to make them catchy. Attached below are a few images from their beautiful studio.

✔The studio has a variety of homely background set-ups that the client can choose from, in terms of where they want their photos taken.
✔They deliver photos within 3 working days, which is very convenient for impatient people like me. (I know of studios which even go upto 5 working days before delivering)
✔Their rates are very fair and friendly.
✔ The quality of edited pictures is on point!
✔They give a FREE BEHIND-THE-SCENES Video for your shoot (delivered together with the photos).

NOTE:
This was an experience I had exactly six months from the time of writing this article.
Whether the studio has changed in some way to improve their services or not, I may not be aware.
I am, thus, not accountable for any feelings readers may have contrary to what I’ve written. I’m writing on my own personal experience, so to each, their own.
Please let me know in the comments section, would you visit Mokah Studios for your photoshoot?
Remember: Always consult widely and check reviews before booking in for a shoot with any studio.
