Social Media Managers… here’s something for you! ✨
If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you’re well aware that I eat, breathe, and live social media. It’s ingrained in everything I do, and it’s more than that; it’s a way of life and a career for me! Back in campus, I was fascinated and admired influencers who could not only grow a social media network but also generate money from that community. This greatly influenced my decision to join social media. I had no idea how social media operated back then, but I knew I didn’t want to join the common 9-to-5 work culture after graduating from campus.
My journey pursuing social media as a career has since grown… and the story that began as SMM Kenya has now gone through a complete 360 degree makeover to become Digital Mtandaoni. When I founded the former SMM Kenya, I simply wanted to be known for one thing: being the go-to expert for Social Media Management. However, as I learned, matured, and advanced in the profession… I saw how many gaps there were. The more I shared about my experiences via my social media platforms, the more enquiries I got on how I had managed to grow so quickly in the profession.
The need to carry people along with me prompted the notion for rebranding. I recognized and thought to myself, “Okay, Serah, you’re demonstrating to others how successful the industry has been for you in such a short period of time. What if you adjusted this to show people not only the victories, but also the process?”
Digital Mtandaoni is a Kenyan ed-tech platform that equips social media managers with the skills required to start careers as social media managers. It is a social media manager’s go-to resource for all things social media. All classes are entirely online, may be completed at one’s leisure, and are available to everyone, regardless of where they are in the world. A sneak peek of what is to come can be found here. All courses are pre-recorded, certified and will be live on the website as from June 01st, 2025. You can follow Digital Mtandaoni on all social media platforms namely Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn for regular updates, and to also know as soon as we go live!
