5 Lesson Ideas for Sunday School.
When I started out in Kids’ Ministry, I was entirely clueless. I, for one, had no idea what to do, I had had no prior experience but in my heart I knew I was meant for KidsMin. I took to watching lots of videos and tutorials just to get ideas of how to go about it.
If you are a beginner teacher and wondering what to teach kids on your first day, here are some bible lesson ideas that may get you through:
1. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
Come up with a mnemonic. With the kids I taught, our mnemonic was: Winnie(Worship) Is(Idols) Very(Vain) Keen(Keep) Her(Honor) Mangoes(Murder) Are(Adultery) Sweet(Steal) For(False) Children(Covet). Help them recall the commandments using this or any other guide you may come up with.
2. THE TEN PLAGUES
Again, mnemonics are great life-savers! How about: What(Water To Blood) Funny(Frogs) Granny(Gnats) Fries(Flies) Liver(Livestock) But(Boils) Hates(Hail) Liver(Locust) Done(Darkness) Dreadfully(Death of the Firstborn). Help them recall the 10 plagues using this or any other guide you may come up with.
3. THE FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
You can help them recall the fruits of the Holy Spirit by teaching the children a mnemonic or song such as the one here.
4. THE ARMOR OF GOD.
Found in Ephesians 6:10-18, the armor of God is a topic you must absolutely teach young ones. The fun about this is that you can even sing and act it out in class.
5. THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
You can help them recall the gifts of the Holy Spirit by teaching the children a mnemonic or using a song.
Hope these lesson tips help you out! Especially if you’re just starting out. They sure helped me out!
